SIB-1 sensor-interface board in KiCad

A small 2-layer board, designed in KiCad 7 and broken into four functional stages: (1) reverse-polarity protected 5 V input and 3.3 V LDO, (2) ATmega328P microcontroller with ISP and status LED, (3) ratiometric NTC front end with a Sallen–Key anti-alias filter, (4) I²C temperature sensor, calibration EEPROM, I²C and UART connectors. All symbols and footprints come from a custom library built for the board. The design is described once in src/sib/design.py; Python scripts generate the schematic, library, PCB and outputs with KiCad's own tools, and the tests check KiCad's exported netlist back…

Kicad sensor interface board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Kicad sensor interface board use?

The Kicad sensor interface board is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Kicad sensor interface board?

The Kicad sensor interface board measures 54 × 42 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kicad sensor interface board?

36 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kicad sensor interface board design files?

From the RangeMaster370/kicad-sensor-interface-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kicad sensor interface board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with RangeMaster370. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Kicad sensor interface board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
