About the EyeVolt PCB

EyeVolt is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by rbarzic, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 123.7 × 94 mm, with 113 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP6L04x-xSL, OPA316QDBVTQ1, 74HCT4051 and 74HCT4051 DAC_FB_MUX. By type, the board carries 48 resistors, 47 capacitors, 16 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Monitor up to 8 voltages simultaneously

EyeVolt 2.0 is a 12-channel DC voltage monitor and an 8-channel programmable DC voltage generator, both built around a single Raspberry Pi Pico (the RP2040 U9).

On the monitor side the Pico continuously samples up to twelve external voltages and streams the raw ADC readings out over USB-serial, exactly like v1.1. On the generation side the Pico produces eight independent 0 - 3.3 V outputs by low-pass-filtering eight PWM channels and buffering them; a feedback multiplexer lets the Pico read its own generated outputs back.

EyeVolt: common questions

What microcontroller does the EyeVolt use?

The EyeVolt is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the EyeVolt PCB?

The EyeVolt measures 123.7 × 94 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the EyeVolt?

113 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the EyeVolt design files?

From the rbarzic/EyeVolt repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the EyeVolt design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which rbarzic chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the EyeVolt without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
