About the Pcb space
Pcb space is an open source ESP32 PCB design by RileyMcCarthy, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 21.9 × 38.7 mm, with 19 components from 13 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AP2112K-3.3TRG1, USBLC6-2SC6 and B3U-1000P. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 5 ICs, 5 resistors, 1 connector and 1 diode.
From the project
Zener-style compiler for PCB placement and routing: AI writes Place/NetReq, geometry is compiled, KiCad is the backend.
Zener (pcb) is the schematic language. pcb-space is the spatial compiler and fab packager in front of KiCad.
This is not a Zener fork. You write a .zen board and a .place.py. pcb-space build is the compiler: schematic (pcb build + lint) → seed (pcb layout --no-open`) → place → route → fab. The agent never has to click Pcbnew.
Already-committed placed/ / routed/ / fab/ are left alone. --force or --from place is an opt-in rebuild (a new PCBA). pcb layout on those directories duplicates footprints; seed / place / build refuse them.

Pcb space: common questions
What microcontroller does the Pcb space use?
The Pcb space is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Pcb space?
The Pcb space measures 21.9 × 38.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.62 mm thick.
How many components are on the Pcb space?
19 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Pcb space design files?
From the RileyMcCarthy/pcb-space repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Pcb space design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which RileyMcCarthy chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Pcb space without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
