About the Transmitter PCB

Transmitter is an open source STM32 PCB design by rjacoby00, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 44.6 × 31.8 mm, with 37 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32L010K4T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the RFM69HCW, C5446 and AHT20. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 9 resistors, 7 connectors, 4 ICs, 2 crystals and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Repository for code experiments and smaller projects.

This is the circuit and PCB design for my Senior Research Project. My project was to research the future economic impacts of the Internet of Things on manufacturing and to design a simple IoT board. This is a small temperature sensor board that transmits it's data over LoRa. The board is untested as the parts I orignally designed it for were out of stock by the time it was complete due to the global chip shortage in 2021. The firmware is mostly just the template files generated for my hardware configuration by STM32CubeIDE. I've stripped out most of the project files from that with a…

Transmitter: common questions

What microcontroller does the Transmitter use?

The Transmitter is built around the STM32L010K4T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Transmitter PCB?

The Transmitter measures 44.6 × 31.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Transmitter?

37 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Transmitter design files?

From the rjacoby00/devel repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Transmitter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rjacoby00. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Transmitter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
