About the Sensornode PCB

Sensornode is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by rmd6502, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 57.6 × 43.9 mm, with 26 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the MQ-135, LTC4055 and MIC5504-3.3YM5. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 6 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors and 1 transistor.

Crowdsourced Environmental Sensing

The pm (particulate measure) depends on Paul Van Haastrecht's SPS30 library at https://github.com/paulvha/sps30. Sensirion's library doesn't work, though I imagine they'll fix that.

Sensornode: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sensornode use?

The Sensornode is built around the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Sensornode PCB?

The Sensornode measures 57.6 × 43.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sensornode?

26 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sensornode design files?

From the rmd6502/envirosense repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sensornode design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which rmd6502 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sensornode without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
