About the Esp32 sensornode PCB

Esp32 sensornode is an open source ESP32 PCB design by rmd6502, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 33 mm, with 35 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the BME280, BQ24075, CH330N, LM1117-3.3 and TPS3839DBZ. By type, the board carries 12 resistors, 7 connectors, 6 ICs, 5 transistors and 5 capacitors.

Crowdsourced Environmental Sensing

The pm (particulate measure) depends on Paul Van Haastrecht's SPS30 library at https://github.com/paulvha/sps30. Sensirion's library doesn't work, though I imagine they'll fix that.

Esp32 sensornode: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32 sensornode use?

The Esp32 sensornode is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32 sensornode PCB?

The Esp32 sensornode measures 70 × 33 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32 sensornode?

35 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32 sensornode design files?

From the rmd6502/envirosense repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32 sensornode design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which rmd6502 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32 sensornode without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
