About the Control v4.0 PCB

Control v4.0 is an open source NXP PCB design by RoboJackets, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 64 × 66 mm, with 17 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TEENSY4.1, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the NRF24L01_BREAKOUT and IMU Header. By type, the board carries 4 connectors, 4 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 switches, 2 diodes and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

If you are a new member to the RoboCup electrical team and have never used git version control before, we highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with it by reading this guide.

However, older boards in the archives were designed using EAGLE or PCB (a program that is part of the gEDA project)

Unfortunately, EAGLE and PCB are no longer supported by their respective companies, and are not available for download. If you need access to these files, you are on your own.

Control v4.0: common questions

What microcontroller does the Control v4.0 use?

The Control v4.0 is built around the TEENSY4.1, from the NXP family.

How big is the Control v4.0 PCB?

The Control v4.0 measures 64 × 66 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Control v4.0?

17 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Control v4.0 design files?

From the RoboJackets/robocup-pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Control v4.0 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which RoboJackets chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Control v4.0 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
