About the Mcu2 PCB

Mcu2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by sadaoikebe, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 96.8 × 57.7 mm, with 32 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the ADXL345, max31865_module and dcdc_module. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 diodes, 4 ICs, 3 transistors, 3 connectors and 3 jumpers.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and sensors designs in this gallery.

FFC mod for SnakeOilXY 3-D printer

This is a toolhead PCB suite for SnakeOil-XY 3-D printer. It's a combo of a toolhead PCB and a dedicated MCU. MCU is connected to the toolhead by a ribbon cable, which makes connection simpler and also makes toolhead lighter. It only needs USB wire and 24V power supply connected to the MCU board. It has an ADXL345 accelerometer on-board. It has an X endstop on board, which fits SnakeOilXY toolhead dimension. * This system is compatible only with Klipper.

Mcu2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mcu2 use?

The Mcu2 is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Mcu2 PCB?

The Mcu2 measures 96.8 × 57.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mcu2?

32 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mcu2 design files?

From the sadaoikebe/SnakeOilXY-FFC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mcu2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which sadaoikebe chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Mcu2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
