About the Programming interface PCB

Programming interface is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by saktheeswaranswan, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 53.3 × 48.3 mm, with 12 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the AM29F040. By type, the board carries 4 diodes, 2 ICs, 2 switches, 2 capacitors, 1 connector and 1 resistor.

From the project

An ATmega328-driven programming interface for the MK1 8-bit CPU.

An ATmega328-driven programming interface for the MK1 8-bit CPU.

Writes a program, stored in a flash memory, into the working memory of the MK1 CPU.

Supports up to 16 program slots, the program/next button is used to select the bank and write the selected program.

Programming interface: common questions

What microcontroller does the Programming interface use?

The Programming interface is built around the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Programming interface PCB?

The Programming interface measures 53.3 × 48.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Programming interface?

12 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Programming interface design files?

From the saktheeswaranswan/8-bit-computer-pcb-version-simple repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Programming interface design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which saktheeswaranswan chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Programming interface without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
