Stabilized Autonomous Telemetry Vehicle Intelligent Kopter | Autonomous drone from scratch for delivery/filming

A custom STM32H743 flight controller, designed from scratch for ArduPilot.

36 × 36 mm, 30.5 mm stack mounting, 4-layer. My first PCB, built for Hack Club Macondo.

SATVIK-26 is a flight controller: the computer that reads a drone's sensors and decides how fast to spin each motor. It runs ArduPilot on an STM32H743VIT6, a 480 MHz Cortex-M7.

Anyone can just buy a flight controller and assemble a drone, but I wanted to understand one. There is a large gap between knowing that an IMU talks over Serial Peripheral Interface contrast to having placed that IMU's decoupling capacitor yourself…

SATVIK-26: common questions

What microcontroller does the SATVIK-26 use?

The SATVIK-26 is built around the STM32H743VITx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the SATVIK-26 PCB?

The SATVIK-26 measures 36 × 36 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SATVIK-26?

76 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SATVIK-26 design files?

From the SavvySatvikCodes/SATVIK-26 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SATVIK-26 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with SavvySatvikCodes. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SATVIK-26 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
