About the Clacky40 PCB

Clacky40 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ScatteredDrifter, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 229 × 80 mm, with 128 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, C347376 and SRV05-4. By type, the board carries 55 relays, 23 diodes, 15 capacitors, 9 connectors, 9 LEDs and 7 resistors.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Yet another replacement Board for the Daisy40. Running with a RP2040, adapted from elmos:

Alternatively one could download my fork of vial-qmk here and compile the firmware themself. For that you will have to: 1. have set up qmk and be ready to compile and flash. ( See qmk setup or consult the qmk tutorial) 2. find my keyboards, under ../keyboards/scattereddrifter/ and choose clacky40. 3. make your changes 4. compile with qmk compile --kb scattereddrifter/clacky40 --km yourKeyMap

Clacky40: common questions

What microcontroller does the Clacky40 use?

The Clacky40 is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Clacky40 PCB?

The Clacky40 measures 229 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Clacky40?

128 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Clacky40 design files?

From the ScatteredDrifter/Clacky40 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Clacky40 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ScatteredDrifter. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Clacky40 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
