From the project

Hardware repository for all schematics and layouts regarding the LED Strip Controller project.

The final design stage is the Component Based Design. This design is the most complex design and is the most expensive. The design is split into two different designs, the PCB and the Enclosure. The PCB is designed in KiCad and the enclosure is designed using Fusion 360, the enclosure designs are stored in Thingiverse which is linked below.

The Architecture of this system is shown below:

LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware use?

The LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware is built around the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware PCB?

The LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware measures 134.6 × 76.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware?

167 components, from 65 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware design files?

From the ScottGibb/LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which ScottGibb chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the LED-Strip-Controller-Hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
