About the Nyx PCB

Nyx is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Shadow220108, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 21 × 51 mm, with 45 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP1700X-330XXTT, W25Q128JVS and BQ21040DBV. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 connectors, 4 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the power & battery and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Nyx is a RP2040 based dev board with a built in li-ion battery charger and the same pinout and board size as a normal pico also comes with few extra GPIO!

Everybody has used a Raspberry Pi pico, that was my go to for most of the simple projects as well, one thing that always bugged me was the battery which I had always had to charge after a couple of days of using my project, thats why I am planning to build a custom devboard with on board battery charging system

That is pretty easy, you have all the files you will need in the production folder, order the development board from any PCB fab ( I chose JLC cause its cheap and has good quality ) and BINGO! You will have it to use for any purpose you want!

Nyx: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nyx use?

The Nyx is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Nyx PCB?

The Nyx measures 21 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nyx?

45 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nyx design files?

From the Shadow220108/Nyx repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nyx design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Shadow220108. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Nyx without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
