About the FRReceiver8 PCB

FRReceiver8 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by shaise, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 22 × 23 mm, with 25 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP1700, CC2500_MOD6 and CC2500_MOD6_PA. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 2 antennas and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery, and the repository also holds 1 earlier revision of it.

Order the PCB by sending the gerbrt files to a manufacturer of your choice. I recommend JLCPCB. FR-8 gerber files and FR-8 pins gerber files FR-Tiny FR-LVH FR-Pgm Order all parts as listed in the BOM file. You will need a 0603 kit of resistors and capacitors, and for all other parts you will find a link in the BOM. FR-8 BOM FR-Tiny BOM FR-LVH BOM FR-Pgm BOM Solder all parts. FRReceiver8: common questions

What microcontroller does the FRReceiver8 use?

The FRReceiver8 is built around the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the FRReceiver8 PCB?

The FRReceiver8 measures 22 × 23 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FRReceiver8?

25 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FRReceiver8 design files?

From the shaise/OpenSky328 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FRReceiver8 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which shaise chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the FRReceiver8 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
