From the project

A battery-powered, Bluetooth-enabled precision electronic level instrument for machine tool geometry inspection and granite surface plate qualification.

A battery-powered, Bluetooth-enabled precision electronic level instrument for machine tool geometry inspection and granite surface plate qualification.

The instrument combines a MEMS 3-axis inclinometer (Murata SCL3300) with a high-resolution pendulum-based capacitive sensor (Sciosense PCAP04), a 2.7" Sharp Memory LCD display, and a Bluetooth Low Energy interface to a companion Windows application. All precision sensing is mechanically coupled directly to a cast iron reference base, isolated from the plastic enclosure.

InclinationMeter: common questions

What microcontroller does the InclinationMeter use?

The InclinationMeter is built around the STM32G0B1RET6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the InclinationMeter PCB?

The InclinationMeter measures 90 × 70 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the InclinationMeter?

114 components, from 41 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the InclinationMeter design files?

From the soldernerd/InclinationMeter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the InclinationMeter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with soldernerd. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the InclinationMeter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
