About the UltrasonicSystem PCB

UltrasonicSystem is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Sonicators, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 145 × 110 mm, with 81 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the ACS712, AD9833_Board, 50K, 10K and SG3525. By type, the board carries 24 connectors, 22 resistors, 15 capacitors, 8 ICs, 6 diodes and 3 transistors.

From the project

An ultrasonic system for hobbyist use

A small ultrasonic system which can be used by hobbyists for:

Mixing Cell disruption Levitation Cavitation experiments Ultrasonic chemistry ...and other tasks

The system consists of a transducer, a tuned aluminum horn, an ATX supply for power, an SMPS transformer from a second power supply, a PCB power driver, and mounting hardware.

Not counting the two ATX power supplies, a complete system can be made for around $60USD, more or less, depending on how good you are at scavenging.

UltrasonicSystem: common questions

What microcontroller does the UltrasonicSystem use?

The UltrasonicSystem is built around the Arduino_Nano, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the UltrasonicSystem PCB?

The UltrasonicSystem measures 145 × 110 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the UltrasonicSystem?

81 components, from 40 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the UltrasonicSystem design files?

From the Sonicators/UltrasonicSystem repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the UltrasonicSystem design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Sonicators. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the UltrasonicSystem without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
