About the DPL PCB

DPL is an open source Microchip SAM PCB design by spel-uchile, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 82.5 × 29 mm, with 39 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SAMD21E, from the Microchip SAM family. Other key parts include the AP7215-33YG-13, AV4524 and DPL. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 capacitors, 5 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the science & space and sensors designs in this gallery.

Radiosonde platform to develop, test and integrate payloads for the future CubeSats missions

This repository contains the software and the PCB designs of a radiosonde. This radiosonde is used as a platform to test and integrate payloads for the future CubeSat missions. Version 4.0 complies with the PC104 board standard for CubeSats. The balloon's software architecture uses a command pattern with a ZMQ data format.

The OBC of the radiosonde consists on a PC104 PCB board compatible with the design specification of the SUCHAI CubeSat. The shape of the board considers spaces to improve the cable management inside the radiosonde. The board has some socket pins to connect either a…

DPL: common questions

What microcontroller does the DPL use?

The DPL is built around the SAMD21E, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the DPL PCB?

The DPL measures 82.5 × 29 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DPL?

39 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DPL design files?

From the spel-uchile/balloon_experiment repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DPL design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with spel-uchile. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the DPL without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
