About the Le Capybara PCB

Le Capybara is an open source STM32 PCB design by sporkus, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 227.3 × 85 mm, with 64 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072CBT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the XC6206PXXXMR-REGULATOR_LINEAR, PRTR5V0U2X, 74HC4051 and OPA354AIDBVR. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 17 resistors, 11 diodes, 8 switches, 6 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Recommended plate material is 1.2mm steel. Plate files are in the expected physical dimensions. No kerf adjustments have been applied. The dxf files have been used successfully with SendCutSend and LaserBoost. JLCPCB is not recommnded for the plates without further testing to adapt to their milling process.

Le Capybara: common questions

What microcontroller does the Le Capybara use?

The Le Capybara is built around the STM32F072CBT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Le Capybara PCB?

The Le Capybara measures 227.3 × 85 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Le Capybara?

64 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Le Capybara design files?

From the sporkus/le_capybara_keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Le Capybara design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which sporkus chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Le Capybara without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
