About the Odonata PCB

Odonata is an open source PCB design by Stefanos0710, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 85.8 × 69.8 mm, with 42 components from 34 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TCA9548APWR, MP1584 and ADS1115. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 11 connectors, 8 capacitors, 3 ICs, 2 inductors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

A fully autonomous drone for precise indoor navigation and worldwide remote control.

Odonata is an autonomous indoor drone controlled over a local network. I had the idea for the project, after I once bought a drone that broke after just two days because I struggled to control it manually. Sothat it doesn´t crash again, I decided to build a new, autonomous drone and named it Odonata, after the Latin word for dragonfly.

The drone weighs about 300g and uses a 3S 11.1V 850mAh battery, giving it a flight time of roughly 5 minutes. With around 1100g of thrust, it achieves a 3:1 thrust-to-weight ratio, which allows precise flights. For navigation, it has 4 ToF (Time-of-Flight)…

Odonata: common questions

How big is the Odonata PCB?

The Odonata measures 85.8 × 69.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Odonata?

42 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Odonata design files?

From the Stefanos0710/Odonata repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Odonata design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Stefanos0710 chose for the repository.
