About the ReSeed PCB

ReSeed is an open source PCB design by SukkoPera, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 60.8 × 100 mm, with 55 components from 39 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOS_8580, CD74HCT4520E, 74HCT245, GAL16V8 and TL497ACN. By type, the board carries 21 capacitors, 14 resistors, 7 ICs, 4 connectors, 3 inductors and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the retro computing and audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Sounds from C64 now for Plus/4!

ReSeed is an expansion card for the Commodore 16 and Plus/4 computers that allows interfacing the computer with a MOS 6581 or 8580 Sound Interface Device, the chip that is used to deliver audio on the Commodore 64.

It is based on a design by Solder of Synergy.

(Slight rewording of Solder's original description of the card.)

New component values for the step-up voltage regulator: The values of some components were fine-tuned (again) in order to place the switching frequency of the step-up voltage converter way out of the audio band. These new values can also be retrofitted on a V1 board and…

ReSeed: common questions

How big is the ReSeed PCB?

The ReSeed measures 60.8 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ReSeed?

55 components, from 39 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ReSeed design files?

From the SukkoPera/ReSeed repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ReSeed design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with SukkoPera. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
