About the Wtrack PCB

Wtrack is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by supisbe12, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85.8 × 53.4 mm, with 34 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NRF52840-QIAA-R, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the RFX2401C, GPS1003 and ATGM336H-5N31. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 6 inductors, 4 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the rf & radio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A PCB that tracks it's location using both bluetooth and gps system

Wtrack is a tracker with a combination of Apple Find My, Hubble (terrestrial + satellite), GPS, and BLE proximity detection on one barebones PCB (no enclosure) which goes inside your wallet. I want it to be barebone because I wanted to be able to see the actual PCB because it looks cool ,But I am planning to add a layer acrylic spray that I already have available to prevent water from affecting the board.

Wtrack: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wtrack use?

The Wtrack is built around the NRF52840-QIAA-R, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Wtrack PCB?

The Wtrack measures 85.8 × 53.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wtrack?

34 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wtrack design files?

From the supisbe12/Wtrack repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wtrack design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with supisbe12. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Wtrack without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
