About the Sprinkler-System PCB

Sprinkler-System is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Swamp-Ig, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 165 × 85 mm, with 73 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32U, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, EL817, HLK-PM01 and ULN2803A. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 13 capacitors, 12 connectors, 7 relays, 5 ICs and 2 fuses.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

PCB design for five zone sprinkler system. For ESPHome with an Esp32 module.

A custom PCB for controlling up to six 24 VAC irrigation solenoid valves via WiFi, using an ESP32 and ESPHome with native Home Assistant integration.

- 6 independent zones — each zone switches a 24 VAC solenoid valve via an Omron G5LE-1 relay - WiFi control — ESP32-WROOM-32U with external U.FL antenna connector - Home Assistant integration — ESPHome firmware; zones appear as switch entities - Onboard power supply — HLK-PM01 AC-DC module (mains → 5 V); AMS1117-3.3 regulator (5 V → 3.3 V for ESP32) - Relay isolation — ULN2803A Darlington array isolates ESP32 GPIOs from relay coil drive current…

Sprinkler-System: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sprinkler-System use?

The Sprinkler-System is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32U, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Sprinkler-System PCB?

The Sprinkler-System measures 165 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sprinkler-System?

73 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sprinkler-System design files?

From the Swamp-Ig/Sprinkler-System repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sprinkler-System design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Swamp-Ig. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Sprinkler-System without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
