About the RC1 Sound Interface PCB

RC1 Sound Interface is an open source PCB design by tebl, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 68 mm, with 35 components from 17 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SID #1, LM386, SID #2 and 74LS138. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 6 ICs, 4 connectors and 4 resistors.

It belongs with the retro computing and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

A recreation of the MOS KIM-1 microcomputer, the start of the Commodore-line of computers. Complete with hex keypad, six digit displays and a lot of 8-bit fun!

Made in order to use Commodore 64 SID chip replacements such as the SwinSID, armSID or fpgaSID as a sound device. Purposefully does not include the extra voltages needed to use a real SID-chip, mostly because the functioning chips that are left in this world belong in real computers (also, did not want to mess around with more than one power rail).
