Badge designed for DEFCON32
The Hackbat BAdge has been designed specially for DEFCON32. This badge features the ESP32C3 microcontroller with WIFI and Bluetooth. The board also has LEDs, and an OLED Display to show information.
If you received your badge at DEFCON, read this!!
This microcontroller can be programmed using either the Arduino IDE or the official ESP-IDF.
LED are a must in any badge. The Hackbat Badge has 4 smart LEDs, the WS2812. This LED hs a controller integrated so you can choos the color using a serial protocol. The best of these LED is that you can conenct many of them in series, and send different…

Defcon32 badge: common questions
What microcontroller does the Defcon32 badge use?
The Defcon32 badge is built around the C2934560, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Defcon32 badge PCB?
The Defcon32 badge measures 60 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Defcon32 badge?
36 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Defcon32 badge design files?
From the thehackbat/defcon32_badge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Defcon32 badge design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which thehackbat chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Defcon32 badge without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
