About the DevBoard-202 PCB

DevBoard-202 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ThongNQ867, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 51 mm, with 38 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the C39051 and C2843335. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 10 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a dev board that runs with the RP2040 but structured more simple than Pi Pico. The schematic is inspired by the document "Hardware design with RP2040", the PCB is made with the tutorial from @KaiPereira

Using instruction: Using this development board is similar to any other development board. We can just plug wires to GPIO pins to use. The usage of GPIO pins can be find on the datasheet of Raspberry Pi Pico or the RP2040 itself. This dev board can be used with external power source, and to do so, we can wire a 5V power source to the VBus or VSYS pins.

While there is a tutorial from Blueprint, I think it is better to fact check stuffs again and get understand more clearly about how to set up the value for resistors and capacitors by myself from these 2 links: RP2040 datasheet…

DevBoard-202: common questions

What microcontroller does the DevBoard-202 use?

The DevBoard-202 is built around the C2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the DevBoard-202 PCB?

The DevBoard-202 measures 30 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DevBoard-202?

38 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DevBoard-202 design files?

From the ThongNQ867/DevBoard-202 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DevBoard-202 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ThongNQ867. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the DevBoard-202 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
