About the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C PCB

ESP32-Devkit-Type-C is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by TobleMiner, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25.3 × 48.2 mm, with 54 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-PICO-D4, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MP2359 and CH340G. By type, the board carries 25 capacitors, 12 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Breadboard friendly, USB Type C enabled, ESP32 Devkit compatible, JLCPCB assembly ready ESP32 devboard

This PCB is a USB Type C enabled ESP32 development board. It is pin-compatible with the ESP32 Devkit C but sports a slightly decreased width to fit on a standard breadboard. The current revision (Rev E) has been tested and confirmed to work fine.

USB Type C pin-compatible with ESP32 Devkit fits on standard breadboard onboard antenna * jumper to short USB protection diode

ESP32-Devkit-Type-C: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C use?

The ESP32-Devkit-Type-C is built around the ESP32-PICO-D4, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C PCB?

The ESP32-Devkit-Type-C measures 25.3 × 48.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C?

54 components, from 28 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C design files?

From the TobleMiner/ESP32-Devkit-Type-C repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which TobleMiner chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-Devkit-Type-C without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
