About the Panel PCB

Panel is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by TrojanPinata, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 77 × 119 mm, with 49 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q16JVUXIQ and TLV75533PDBVR. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 14 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 test points and 2 switches.

From the project

A Raspberry Pi Pico clone with some quality of life features

The goal of this was to prove the feasability of using PCBA as well as prove my ability to make a functioning RP2040 microcontroller board. The Pi Pico was simply chosen as it was a very accessible option.

If you want to use this project, it should be noted that this is open source, but I would rather you simply use this as a reference. Putting that much confidence in someone elses work is dangerous, and I cannot guarantee spec with the original.

Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Panel use?

The Panel is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Panel PCB?

The Panel measures 77 × 119 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Panel?

49 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Panel design files?

From the TrojanPinata/Pico repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Panel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which TrojanPinata chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
