About the Smart soja PCB

Smart soja is an open source ESP32 PCB design by virgile-tchidehou, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 219.6 × 144.8 mm, with 77 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DEVKITC-32E, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the DHT22. By type, the board carries 22 capacitors, 17 resistors, 14 connectors, 8 diodes, 5 transistors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An autonomous IoT-based mobile system for soybean pre-processing, integrating embedded systems, industrial automation, solar energy and cloud connectivity.

Documentation · Architecture · Hardware · Roadmap

SMART-SOJA is an academic engineering project co-developed by Elisa Christelle LOKO and Dodji Virgile TCHIDEHOU. It explores a mobile and connected soybean pre-processing unit designed to improve post-harvest handling in rural environments.

The prototype combines embedded systems, industrial automation, IoT technologies and an off-grid solar/battery architecture. At its current stage, the project is a functional proof of concept: the main sensing, actuation, drying and IoT subsystems have been validated individually or in partial…

Smart soja: common questions

What microcontroller does the Smart soja use?

The Smart soja is built around the ESP32-DEVKITC-32E, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Smart soja PCB?

The Smart soja measures 219.6 × 144.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smart soja?

77 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smart soja design files?

From the virgile-tchidehou/smart-soja repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smart soja design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which virgile-tchidehou chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Smart soja without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
