About the Esp32LoraBoard PCB

Esp32LoraBoard is an open source ESP32 PCB design by vrees, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 72 × 65 mm, with 54 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LM3940IMP-3.3 and RFM95W-868S2. By type, the board carries 15 resistors, 10 capacitors, 9 connectors, 7 test points, 6 transistors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the rf & radio, power & battery and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

ESP32 board including Lora RFM95 module optimized for low power deep sleep operation.

After PowerOn without sending any Lora data

Switched off all peripheral components and shutdown the RFM95W lora chip.

* Clone this project and open in platformio.

* Clone ttn-esp32 into lib subdir. Switch to branch dev to get it running. More info see https://github.com/manuelbl/ttn-esp32

* Following has to be changed under in ./lib/ttn-esp32 Change following:

src/lmic/config.h #define USEORIGINALAES

Esp32LoraBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32LoraBoard use?

The Esp32LoraBoard is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32LoraBoard PCB?

The Esp32LoraBoard measures 72 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32LoraBoard?

54 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32LoraBoard design files?

From the vrees/Esp32LoraBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32LoraBoard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with vrees. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32LoraBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
