About the MSX SD PCB

MSX SD is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by yanataka60, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 79 × 100 mm, with 13 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Pro_Mini_5V, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74LS02, 74LS138, 27256 and 8255. By type, the board carries 5 ICs, 5 capacitors, 2 connectors and 1 diode.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

MSX SD: common questions

What microcontroller does the MSX SD use?

The MSX SD is built around the Arduino_Pro_Mini_5V, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the MSX SD PCB?

The MSX SD measures 79 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MSX SD?

13 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MSX SD design files?

From the yanataka60/MSX_SD repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MSX SD design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which yanataka60 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the MSX SD without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
