About the WizServoTester PCB

WizServoTester is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Abean2k, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 60.5 mm, with 31 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, AMS1117-3.3 and MINI560. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 7 connectors, 6 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A servo controller PCB that can control up to 4 servos using onboard controls and a simple web app.

A servo controller PCB that can control up to 4 servos using onboard rotary encoders. Powered by an ESP32-C6 with two power input modes, USB and FTC 12V Battery.

When designing this I made sure to keep it useful to FTC teams by allowing teams to use their existing battery to power the device. Teams already have many 12v 10 cell batteries, so I have included the xt30 connector that all these batteries have and a buck converter to step the voltage down to 5v for use in the circuit. The entire thing can be reprogrammed using the USBc and inbuilt USB programmer on the ESP32-C6.

WizServoTester: common questions

What microcontroller does the WizServoTester use?

The WizServoTester is built around the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the WizServoTester PCB?

The WizServoTester measures 100 × 60.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WizServoTester?

31 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WizServoTester design files?

From the Abean2k/WizServoTester repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WizServoTester design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Abean2k chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the WizServoTester without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
