About the Blobfi PCB

Blobfi is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Anvarys, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52.5 × 64.8 mm, with 9 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C6-DIP, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the HS96L03W2C03. By type, the board carries 3 switches, 2 ICs, 2 resistors, 1 transistor and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom PCB-based Tamagotchi-like virtual pet built the XIAO-ESP32-C6 MCU, featuring a 0.96" OLED display, 500mah battery with USB-C charging (via the esp32), 3 buttons, a temperature sensor and a vibration motor.

I made this project to have my own custom tamagotchi pet called Blobfi, which is a blobfish, because I love blobfishes!!

I used Tanishq's tamagotchi as insiration & reference.

Blobfi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Blobfi use?

The Blobfi is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C6-DIP, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Blobfi PCB?

The Blobfi measures 52.5 × 64.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Blobfi?

9 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Blobfi design files?

From the Anvarys/blobfi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Blobfi design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Anvarys. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Blobfi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
