About the HS KS-SLD MX PCB

HS KS-SLD MX is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by arrowtype, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 274.6 × 79.4 mm, with 142 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040TR7, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the XC6206PXXXMR, SRV05-4 and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 53 diodes, 14 capacitors, 9 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 switches and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

The utility of an 80% keyboard in a 40% layout

The utility of an 80% keyboard in a 40% form factor.

Inspired by the design of the OP-1 Synthesizer, the explorative spirit of the 40% & 30% keyboard community (especially boards like ChonkyKong, CutiePie, and Ortho Cajal), and the tactile reference points and minimized finger-travel of many split, ergonomic keyboards. The 80forty was partly motivated by the appearance of Deadline Studio DOYS keycaps, but it works with any MX-compatible keycaps.

HS KS-SLD MX: common questions

What microcontroller does the HS KS-SLD MX use?

The HS KS-SLD MX is built around the RP2040TR7, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the HS KS-SLD MX PCB?

The HS KS-SLD MX measures 274.6 × 79.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HS KS-SLD MX?

142 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HS KS-SLD MX design files?

From the arrowtype/80forty repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HS KS-SLD MX design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which arrowtype chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HS KS-SLD MX without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
