From the project

Open-source six-layer Raspberry Pi CM4/CM5 carrier board with USB-C, 25 W PoE, M.2 NVMe, microSD, I2S, and expansion-board connectors.

A compact six-layer carrier board for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, Compute Module 5 and compatible modules. Rev2 retains the 120 mm × 40 mm form factor while improving CM4 compatibility and adding an I²S connector and two underside expansion-board interfaces.

- M.2 interface revised to support CM4, CM5 and compatible compute modules - PWM fan control revised to operate correctly with CM4 and compatible modules - I²S JST connector added to the main board - Two 50-pin Hirose connectors added on the underside for a companion expansion board

CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2: common questions

What microcontroller does the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 use?

The CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 is built around the DF40C-100DS-0.4V(51), from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2?

The CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 measures 120 × 40 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2?

60 components, from 34 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 design files?

From the AsadImranRafique/CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which AsadImranRafique chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CM5-Carrier-Board-Rev2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
