From the project
A microcontroller based emulator to play original NES games over composite video (and HDMI)
microNES is a small RP2350-based NES emulator project with custom hardware, portable emulator code, and host-side development tools.
The repo now includes a complete KiCad implementation of an RP2350 console-style board, plus firmware for composite video, HDMI output, SD-card ROM loading, controller input, and audio. It also includes host tools for building, running, capturing, and validating the same emulator core on a desktop.

MicroNES: common questions
What microcontroller does the MicroNES use?
The MicroNES is built around the C42411118, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the MicroNES PCB?
The MicroNES measures 101.6 × 70 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the MicroNES?
92 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the MicroNES design files?
From the bchelf/microNES repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the MicroNES design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with bchelf. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the MicroNES without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
