About the LCD HAT

LCD HAT is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by bitbank2, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.7 × 53.4 mm, with 11 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the Adafruit_Feather_Generic. By type, the board carries 4 connectors, 3 resistors, 2 modules and 2 switches.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

LCD HAT: common questions

What microcontroller does the LCD HAT use?

The LCD HAT is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the LCD HAT?

The LCD HAT measures 45.7 × 53.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LCD HAT?

11 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LCD HAT design files?

From the bitbank2/KiCad_Projects repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LCD HAT design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which bitbank2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the LCD HAT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
