Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-MINI-1/U, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AP2112K-3.3, MCP73831T-2ACI/OT and MAX17048. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 switches, 5 diodes, 4 ICs and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the sensors, iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An open-hardware, ultra-low power CO2 sensor

An open-hardware, ultra-low power CO2 sensor.

- Battery life of at least 6 months - Uses the Senseair Sunlight CO2 - Measurement range: 400-10000 ppm - Accuracy of +/- 50 ppm - Self-calibrating - Shows a graph of the CO2 level over time - Connectivity possible via Wifi, Bluetooth Low Energy, or Zigbee/Thread (not implemented yet) - Connect a LiPo battery via the JST PH 2.0 connector, and charge via USB-C - Or connect your own power source to the BAT and GND pins

Co2-canary: common questions

What microcontroller does the Co2-canary use?

The Co2-canary is built around the ESP32-C6-MINI-1/U, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Co2-canary PCB?

The Co2-canary measures 61 × 61 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Co2-canary?

50 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Co2-canary design files?

From the blinry/co2-canary repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Co2-canary design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with blinry. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Co2-canary without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
