About the Forti EC PCB

Forti EC is an open source STM32 PCB design by calvin-mcd, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 245.7 × 82.9 mm, with 123 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the USBLC6-2SC6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the XC6206PXXXMR-REGULATOR_LINEAR, OPA354, 74HC4051 and STM32F401CBUX. By type, the board carries 24 resistors, 13 capacitors, 6 ICs, 1 crystal, 1 connector and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

13u pcb for Førti

The Frti pcb (40 in Norwegian) is a 13u 40% pcb with full basekit support for the upcoming Frti keyboard case created and designed by xonuss and xezioh that is based on Geon's F1-8x. The pcb takes its layout and design cues from the oxymoron, bully and ttocyobitna amongst others. It's a stm32 based pcb for low cost, good performance.

Forti EC: common questions

What microcontroller does the Forti EC use?

The Forti EC is built around the USBLC6-2SC6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Forti EC PCB?

The Forti EC measures 245.7 × 82.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.59 mm thick.

How many components are on the Forti EC?

123 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Forti EC design files?

From the calvin-mcd/Forti repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Forti EC design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Forti EC without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
