About the StealTheMoon PCB

StealTheMoon is an open source ESP32 PCB design by choicebuilds, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 130 × 130 mm, with 22 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DEVKIT-V1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ROB-14450 and L7805CV. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 6 connectors and 4 ICs.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 1 layer PCB built from scratch within 36 hours in the RoboTechs hackathon using an ESP32, fabricated using the LPKF Protomat and Protolaser.

StealTheMoon: common questions

What microcontroller does the StealTheMoon use?

The StealTheMoon is built around the ESP32-DEVKIT-V1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the StealTheMoon PCB?

The StealTheMoon measures 130 × 130 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the StealTheMoon?

22 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the StealTheMoon design files?

From the choicebuilds/automatic-storage-unit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the StealTheMoon design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with choicebuilds. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the StealTheMoon without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
