From the project
This repository is dedicated to the open-source device "Intertidal chamber". Here we'll deposit hardware, firmware and structural instructions.
Intertidal chamber ========================================
The Intertidal Environmental Chamber is a self-contained, automatic experimental system that simulates the intertidal environment. Using multiple chambers, researchers can create “virtual common garden experiments” across large geographic spans. The system plugs into a regular mains power outlet and controls other mains power devices (such as pumps and heaters) and 12 V (such as fans, LEDs, and water valves).

Back Panel: common questions
What microcontroller does the Back Panel use?
The Back Panel is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Back Panel PCB?
The Back Panel measures 225.6 × 150.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Back Panel?
174 components, from 36 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Back Panel design files?
From the coastalwarming/Intertidal_chamber repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Back Panel design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with coastalwarming. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Back Panel without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
