About the Eurorack-REV PCB

Eurorack-REV is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by cookiemonsternz, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 29 × 100 mm, with 72 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, W25Q128JVS, 74HC04 and TL072. By type, the board carries 33 capacitors, 18 resistors, 7 connectors, 6 ICs, 3 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

In terms of controls, REV features two potentiometers and 3 switches, which are by default configured to control reverb length and mix, with the switches adjusting brightness, density and stereo mixing.

I personally decided to make it due to my frustration with constantly having to lug around my laptop whenever I wanted reverb on my synth (which doesn't have an in-built fx section). A eurorack module is much more convenient. Having it be my own hardware allows for much more customisation than off the shelf modules / pedals, which I find very attractive.

Eurorack-REV: common questions

What microcontroller does the Eurorack-REV use?

The Eurorack-REV is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Eurorack-REV PCB?

The Eurorack-REV measures 29 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Eurorack-REV?

72 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Eurorack-REV design files?

From the cookiemonsternz/Eurorack-REV repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Eurorack-REV design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with cookiemonsternz. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Eurorack-REV without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
