From the project

4-layer PCB design for a programmable guitar effects pedal with STM32-based real-time DSP processing, featuring ADC/DAC interfacing and multiple audio effects.

A standalone programmable guitar effects pedal implemented on a custom mixed-signal embedded platform with real-time DSP processing on an STM32 microcontroller.

This project is the end-to-end design and bring-up of a custom 4-layer mixed-signal embedded platform for real-time audio acquisition, digital signal processing, and playback. An external high-resolution ADC and DAC interface with an STM32 microcontroller to enable deterministic, low-latency audio processing in a standalone system operating without a host PC.

Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal use?

The Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal is built around the STM32F103CBT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal PCB?

The Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal measures 60 × 75 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.59 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal?

110 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal design files?

From the danromero1/Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which danromero1 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Mixed-Signal-Guitar-Effects-Pedal without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
