🕰️ Gear Flip-Clock Using ESP32, DS3231 RTC, and Stepper Motors This project is a mechanical clock built using an ESP32 microcontroller, a DS3231 real-time clock module, and four stepper motors to control gears that flip number segments — mimicking a 9-segment flip-disk display. The electronics were entirely designed in KiCad as a two-part breakaway PCB, with separate sections for control logic and motor power handling.

Espclock: common questions
What microcontroller does the Espclock use?
The Espclock is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Espclock PCB?
The Espclock measures 89.4 × 65.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Espclock?
32 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Espclock design files?
From the DeniAr111/Clock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Espclock design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DeniAr111. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Espclock without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
