About the SPIFEE PCB

SPIFEE is an open source PCB design by dennowiggle, published on GitHub under the LGPL-2.1 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 101.6 × 49.9 mm, with 67 components from 15 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74LVC2G34GW,125, DS1086LU+, MC68SEC000FU20, 74LVC2G07GW,125 and 74LVC3G06SS8-7. By type, the board carries 37 resistors, 16 capacitors, 6 ICs, 5 diodes and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

3.3V Retro computer project => FPGA + RCBUS + CPU boards making a custom system.

The purpose of the card is to use it to learn 68000 programming.

3. Jumper CPURESETN to CPUHALTN, RCBUS pin 20 to pin 63. If signals need to be separate then jumper CPUHALT_N to spare pin on PETER FPGA e.g. spare GPIO pin on PETER GPIO header.

4. If using a socket for the FLASH have the assembly house solder the socket, or use a hotplate and hot air. * If soldering the FLASH part directly it is possible to program a blank FLASH when soldered onto the board from a ROM image inside the FPGA to start. First need to develop the ROM image to do that.

SPIFEE: common questions

How big is the SPIFEE PCB?

The SPIFEE measures 101.6 × 49.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.60484 mm thick.

How many components are on the SPIFEE?

67 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SPIFEE design files?

From the dennowiggle/Retro-PETER repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SPIFEE design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its LGPL-2.1 license, which dennowiggle chose for the repository.
