About the Analyzer PCB

Analyzer is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by dennowiggle, published on GitHub under the LGPL-2.1 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 101.6 × 76.2 mm, with 59 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SC1634, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the 74LVCH245APW,118. By type, the board carries 30 capacitors, 9 ICs, 7 resistors, 5 connectors, 3 modules and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

3.3V Retro computer project => FPGA + RCBUS + CPU boards making a custom system.

This design is a derivative work of John Winans S-100 bus logic analyzer targeted for RCBUS instead of S-100 bus for use on the PETER project.

Both projects use the Dr Gusman LogicAnalyzer software and firmware.

1. The 'output' directory contains the BOM, netlist, and PDF schematic.

3. Use sockets to mount the PICO's so that they are elevated above the board for anyone wanting to try WiFi.

Analyzer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Analyzer use?

The Analyzer is built around the SC1634, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Analyzer PCB?

The Analyzer measures 101.6 × 76.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.60484 mm thick.

How many components are on the Analyzer?

59 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Analyzer design files?

From the dennowiggle/Retro-PETER repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Analyzer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its LGPL-2.1 license, which dennowiggle chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Analyzer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
