About the Plc board

Plc board is an open source ESP32 PCB design by denorath-sys, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 80 mm, with 62 components from 43 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the HLK-5M05, AMS1117-3.3, ST7580 and MT3608. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 17 capacitors, 8 diodes, 5 ICs, 5 inductors and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

The stackup is a rule now, not a sentence. STACKUP in buildpcb.py` is written into the board's design settings: 1.6mm FR-4, four layers, 1oz outer copper (0.5oz inner, which does not matter here — the inner layers carry only planes and every current-carrying trace, the 1.0mm mains nets included, is on an outer layer), 0.2mm minimum track and clearance, 0.6mm vias on 0.3mm drills, 0.15mm annular ring…

Plc board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Plc board use?

The Plc board is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Plc board?

The Plc board measures 100 × 80 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Plc board?

62 components, from 43 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Plc board design files?

From the denorath-sys/gridnet repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Plc board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which denorath-sys chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Plc board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
