About the Esp8266-web eload PCB

Esp8266-web eload is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by dimtass, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 115 × 77 mm, with 70 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the FT232RL, AMS1117-3.3, SP6661, MCP6H04 and MCP4821. By type, the board carries 31 resistors, 18 capacitors, 6 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a PCB/FW project for a WiFi enabled electronic load

esp8266-web-eload --- This project is how to build an electronic load with a web interface by using the esp8266-E12 module and some other electronic components. This version is using the Arduino ESP8266 for simplicity, but I would like to make this soon also baremetal and use the ESP API instead.

The main components I've used are: FDP6030BL: N-Channel Logic Level MOSFET. This mosfet is features 40A, 30V, Rds(on)=0.024Ω @ Vgs=4.5V, 175oC max junction temp MCP4821: 12-bit SPI DAC with an internal Vref. This one has an internal 2.048V reference and a 2x gain, therefore the Vref can be up to…

Esp8266-web eload: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp8266-web eload use?

The Esp8266-web eload is built around the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Esp8266-web eload PCB?

The Esp8266-web eload measures 115 × 77 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp8266-web eload?

70 components, from 35 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp8266-web eload design files?

From the dimtass/esp8266-web-eload repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp8266-web eload design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with dimtass. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Esp8266-web eload without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
