About the Wallbox board

Wallbox board is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by dkonigsberg, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 118.8 × 86.4 mm, with 50 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12S, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the KA78R33, LM7805CT, TPC817C, 74HC14 and NCS1S2403SC. By type, the board carries 14 resistors, 11 capacitors, 9 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Wall-O-Matic Microcontroller Interface Board

The interface board is a device designed to take a Seeburg Wall-O-Matic jukebox remote, a common sight on a sterotypical 1950's diner tabletop, and interface it to a Sonos system via Wi-Fi using an ESP8266 (ESP-12S).

The main repository for the schematics is: https://github.com/dkonigsberg/wallbox-board

The source code for the firmware that runs on this board is here: https://github.com/dkonigsberg/wallbox-code

Wallbox board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wallbox board use?

The Wallbox board is built around the ESP-12S, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Wallbox board?

The Wallbox board measures 118.8 × 86.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6002 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wallbox board?

50 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wallbox board design files?

From the dkonigsberg/wallbox-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wallbox board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which dkonigsberg chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wallbox board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
