About the Universal smart clothing PCB
Universal smart clothing is an open source ESP32 PCB design by doctorzero666, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 32 components from 17 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MAX7219 and DS18B20. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 transistors, 4 modules, 4 switches, 3 ICs and 2 connectors.
It belongs with the displays & leds, iot & wireless and wearables designs in this gallery.
From the project
ESP32 wearable-computing prototype with thermal control, a rain-responsive visor, and an AI-assisted social display.

Developed in 2025 for ELEC5047 Pervasive Computing at the University of Sydney. The project explores how clothing can respond to environmental conditions and communicate the wearer's social availability without requiring a phone app.
Inspired by Iron Man's environment-aware armor and the self-drying jacket in Back to the Future Part II.

Universal smart clothing: common questions
What microcontroller does the Universal smart clothing use?
The Universal smart clothing is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family.
How many components are on the Universal smart clothing?
32 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Universal smart clothing design files?
From the doctorzero666/universal-smart-clothing repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Universal smart clothing design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which doctorzero666 chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Universal smart clothing without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
