About the Psu monitor PCB

Psu monitor is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by dragonlock2, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 67 × 28 mm, with 94 components from 39 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328PB-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MIC5019, MCP6L02x-xMS, MIC5365-3.3YC5 and SSD1306. By type, the board carries 45 resistors, 19 capacitors, 9 connectors, 8 ICs, 7 transistors and 3 switches.

From the project

Offsite backup for the miscellaneous KiCad boards that don't fit elsewhere

Adding current and voltage monitoring to a salvaged PSU along with a GUI and software controlled high side switches. I didn't realize shorting the 5V rail on the PSU causes a spike on release, killing all of my chips. I have since bought a bench PSU, so this project is on indefinite hold.

Psu monitor: common questions

What microcontroller does the Psu monitor use?

The Psu monitor is built around the ATmega328PB-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Psu monitor PCB?

The Psu monitor measures 67 × 28 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Psu monitor?

94 components, from 39 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Psu monitor design files?

From the dragonlock2/kicadboards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Psu monitor design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which dragonlock2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Psu monitor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
